Long Beach — Kommetjie/Noordhoek

Dramatically framed by Chapman's Peak on one side and the Kommetjie Lighthouse on the other. Perfect for beach walks, horse riding, surfing and kite flying. Rarely more than a handful of people.

Kommetjie Beach & Tidal Pool

The small beach right at the Kommetjie Lighthouse with the famous Tidal Pool — a natural, rock-sheltered seawater pool, perfect for children and swimmers. The surrounding rock pools are a natural aquarium with starfish, anemones and small fish.

Llandudno Beach

Wedged between massive granite boulders, Llandudno is one of the most beautiful beaches in the world — and one of the most exclusive. No kiosk, no lifeguards, just turquoise water, white sand and spectacular rocks. The stairs down are steep, but well worth the effort.

Camps Bay Beach

Cape Town's most famous beach lies at the foot of the Twelve Apostles — palm-lined, with white sand and turquoise water. The promenade with restaurants and bars makes Camps Bay the social hotspot. Best at sunset.

Hout Bay Beach

The wide beach of Hout Bay lies sheltered in the bay of the same name with views of The Sentinel and Chapman's Peak. Calmer water than the open Atlantic beaches, making it better for families. Fish & chips and boat trips to Seal Island right at the harbour.

Muizenberg Beach

Muizenberg is Cape Town's No. 1 surf beach: shallow water, gentle waves, sandy bottom — perfect for learning to surf. The iconic colourful beach huts are THE photo motif of Cape Town. Shark Spotters and shark nets ensure safety. Numerous surf schools right on the beach.

St James Beach & Tidal Pool

St James is a gem: a small, sheltered beach with colourful Victorian bathing huts and a large Tidal Pool — perfect for families. The water is noticeably warmer than on the Atlantic side. The coastal walk to Kalk Bay (15 min) offers lovely views.

Fish Hoek Beach

Fish Hoek Beach is the most family-friendly beach on the Peninsula: long, flat sandy beach with warm, calm water, shark nets and lifeguards. The bay is protected by rocks, the water clear and calm. In season, whales are often spotted right from the promenade.

Boulders Beach — Simon's Town
